Malik Nabers: Beckham Is Why I Started Watching Football
The Giants' top receiver says Odell Beckham Jr.'s highlight-reel catches inspired him as a kid, and now they're teammates in New York.
Malik Nabers has said Odell Beckham Jr. is the reason he started watching football.
The New York Giants receiver was eight when Beckham began his college career at LSU, and 11 when Beckham was named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. Nabers went on to follow a similar path, playing at LSU himself before landing with the Giants.
"He was literally the guy who got me into watching football. The dances, the one-handed catches. He was probably the first player I really started following once I started playing football myself. And now he's here, in the same room as me. It's surreal. Sometimes I have to stop and take in what's happening. It's really unbelievable," said Nabers.
Beckham returned to the Giants in 2026, the club he played for from 2014 to 2018. Nabers is now the team's number one receiver; Beckham, 33, opens the season as a backup.
