Travis Kelce Passes Jason Witten in NFL Receiving Yards
Kelce moved to second all-time among tight ends in receiving yards during Kansas City's Week 1 win, catching his longest pass from Mahomes since 2021.
Travis Kelce moved into second place in NFL history for receiving yards by a tight end during the Chiefs' 31:10 win over the Denver Broncos in Week 1.
Kelce started the day 45 yards short of Jason Witten's mark of 13,046. He got there in the third quarter, catching a 59-yard pass from Patrick Mahomes — his longest reception since December 2021.
"It's nice to get the win, everything else right now is just noise," Kelce said after the game.
The 36-year-old is in his 14th NFL season. Among tight ends, he now trails only Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez (15,127 yards) on the all-time receiving list. He also sits third in receptions (1,083) and fifth in receiving touchdowns (82) at the position.
Mahomes threw the pass that got Kelce there in his first game back since tearing knee ligaments in December, after a recovery that Chiefs coach Andy Reid and Mahomes himself had both said was ahead of schedule in the days before kickoff.
