About the player
Ashley Hatch arrived in the NWSL through the front door: North Carolina Courage took her second overall in the 2017 draft, and she scored seven goals in 24 appearances and took the Rookie of the Year award as the Courage won the NWSL Shield. A loan to Melbourne City for the 2017–18 W-League season added a championship medal to her debut year.
Hatch spent the years since January 2018, when North Carolina traded her and Taylor Smith to Washington Spirit in exchange for Crystal Dunn, with more than 140 league appearances and over 50 goals for the Spirit, a Golden Boot in 2021 with ten goals, and a championship the same year. She followed that with NWSL Best XI honours in 2021 and a Second XI nod in 2023.
Her form with the Spirit earned a first USWNT cap in October 2016, and caps have followed steadily — 23 of them and five goals by the spring of 2025.
