Victor Mayela

Victor Mayela was born in Lyon and holds dual French and Congolese citizenship. He came through the youth ranks at Olympique Le Coteau and Roannais Foot 42 before joining the AJ Auxerre academy in 2019, later spending time at the Pôle Espoirs Ligue Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. He worked his way up through Auxerre's B team in National 2 and signed his first professional contract with the club in May 2024, tied to the end of June 2027.

Rather than break straight into the Auxerre first team, Mayela spent the 2024–2025 season on loan at FC Sochaux in the National, the French third tier. He made 17 appearances there, starting 11, while also turning out for the reserves in National 3. He never featured for Auxerre's senior side in an official match, despite training regularly with the first-team group.

In September 2025 he left Auxerre altogether, moving to USL Dunkerque in Ligue 2 on a three-year deal with an option for a further season. He established himself as a starter for Dunkerque, making 21 league appearances in his first season at the club. He has continued in that role into the following campaign, adding a goal and an assist from his early appearances.

A left-footed defender who operates mainly at centre-back, Mayela is also comfortable filling in at left-back.
