Bali United

Bali United shares its island with Perseden Denpasar, and matches between the two get called the Bali Derby, or Derby Pulau Dewata. In February 2015 businessman Pieter Tanuri took Putra Samarinda, a Kalimantan side worn down by debt, and moved it wholesale to Bali, rebranding it under a new name and colours.

The red, white and black kit comes from Tridatu, the Balinese Hindu ordering of the three colours, and gave the club its nickname, the Tridatu Warriors. Bali United have taken the Liga 1 title twice, in 2019 and in the 2021–22 season, though the Piala Presiden has eluded them — they reached the final in 2018 and came away without it. The academy has already sent players through to the first team, Kadek Arel Priyatna and Rahmat Arjuna Reski among them.

In 2019 Bali United listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange under the ticker BOLA, the first football club in Asia to do so.

Home games are played in Gianyar, at the Kapten I Wayan Dipta Stadium, in front of a capacity of 18,000.
