Dewa United

Dewa United did not begin in Serang at all. The club took shape on 11 March 2009 as Martapura FC, and for more than a decade it worked through Indonesia's lower divisions. The club was bought and rebranded Dewa United on 22 February 2021 by a consortium including Garibaldi Thohir, Rendra Soedjono and Kevin Hardiman, keeping the Martapura name in front until a PSSI Congress let it drop in May 2022. Promotion followed that same year, sealed with a 1-0 win over PSIM Yogyakarta in the third-place playoff of the 2021 Liga 2 season.

In Liga 1 the club settled first in South Tangerang, playing as the Tangsel Warriors, before relocating its base to Serang and adopting the "Banten Warriors" nickname in February 2025. The move to the Banten International Stadium, which holds just over 30,000, arrived for the 2025/26 season.

The 2024/25 campaign gave Dewa United its best domestic finish, a Liga 1 runner-up spot under head coach Jan Olde Riekerink.

Behind all of it sits a club still working out its own name: founded as Martapura, known for years as Tangsel, and only recently settled as the Banten Warriors of Serang.
