Binnenland Women

Sporthal De Driesprong seats 400, and on the nights Binnenland Women play a title decider that hall fills to the rafters rather than around them. The club has kept its women's programme there since it began pushing for national honours, a modest room for a team that has repeatedly outgrown modest expectations.

CBV Binnenland traces back to 1968 in Barendrecht, and the women's section spent the following decades building toward the Vrouwen Basketball League title it finally landed in 2013–14. That championship came the hard way. A year earlier the main sponsor had pulled out, and the club only stayed afloat through a fundraising drive from its own supporters. Winning the league so soon after nearly losing the means to compete gave the town something to rally around, and Barendrecht named the team Sport Team of the Year at its 2015 sport gala.

The trophy cabinet runs deeper than that one league title. Binnenland have lifted the NBB Cup three times, most recently in back-to-back seasons either side of their championship, and reached the WBL Final Four six times between 2001 and 2014. The 2018 Supercup, a 60–59 win over Grasshoppers, arrived in the club's fiftieth-anniversary year. Batouwe Basketball, out of Bemmel, have long supplied the fixture both sides circle on the calendar, though the meetings owe more to results than to any old score.

The women's team has also served as a pipeline to the national side: Marlou de Kleijn earned her first call-up to Oranje in October 2021 while still playing in Barendrecht. A men's promotion in 2010–11 briefly put a second Binnenland side in the Eredivisie, but it is the women who have carried the club's name through six Final Fours and one league banner.
