The night Bandırma won the Play-Off Championship in June 2026, Bordo Sportif started out borrowing someone else's place in the pyramid: to get into professional competition at all in 2023, the club took over the league rights of Alagöz Holding Iğdır Basketbol, entered the Türkiye Basketbol 2. Ligi that same season and reached the round of 16 in its first campaign.

Onur Göçmez, already chairman of the football club Bandırmaspor, set the project up under Bordo Sportif A.Ş. and presented the basketball side to the public in October 2023. A year later the club moved up again, taking over the rights to compete in the Türkiye Basketbol Ligi for 2024–2025. The rise did not slow down: in June 2026 Bordo beat Gaziantep Basketbol 3-0 in the final series, closing the deciding match 79-65, and with it took the club's first Play-Off Championship and a place in the Basketbol Süper Ligi for 2026–2027.

The team plays in Bandırma Basketbol Spor Salonu, inside the Bullseye Athletics complex, a hall that seats 330. Bandırma had gone without a professional club since Banvit folded in 2020, and Bordo's return to the top flight revived the old fixture with Balıkesir Büyükşehir Belediyespor as the Balıkesir Derby, the province's only derby of its kind.

None of it would have been possible without the borrowed licence that got the club onto the court in the first place — a way in built from someone else's place at the table.
