The club in its present form dates from 1993. Football in the town predates that by decades: FK Borac Čapljina were playing matches in Čapljina in the early 1970s, and how one became the other is not a line anyone has drawn cleanly.

The high point came in the 2010/11 season, when Čapljina finished second in the First League of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and went up. Their one season in the Premier League had already been and gone by then — 2000/01, 19th place, straight back down.

Twice they have had to climb out of the Second League (South), in 2007/08 and again in 2009/10, and they did it a third time in 2025/26.

The kit is a question. Red and white is the older answer; the 2025/26 strip went out in yellow and blue.
