«The Birds»
Lincoln Financial Field seats 67,594 in South Philadelphia, and the Eagles have called it home since it opened in 2003.
The franchise itself dates to 8 July 1933, when Bert Bell and Lud Wray bought the rights to the bankrupt Frankford Yellow Jackets, the 1926 NFL champions.
Philadelphia has won five league titles. Three came before the Super Bowl era, in 1948, 1949 and 1960. The other two arrived decades apart. Super Bowl LII, after the 2017 season, saw Nick Foles come off the bench to beat the New England Patriots 41–33 and take the MVP award under head coach Doug Pederson. Super Bowl LIX, after the 2024 season, went the other way — Jalen Hurts started, won MVP, and the Eagles routed the Kansas City Chiefs 40–22 under Nick Sirianni.
Jeffrey Lurie has owned the club since 1994. Among the players who came through Philadelphia, center Jason Kelce and safety Brian Dawkins are remembered less for statistics than for how long they stayed and how the city took to them. The rivalry with the Dallas Cowboys defines the NFC East, while the older meetings with the Pittsburgh Steelers carry the name "Battle of Pennsylvania."
