Jerusalem's football map has room for Beitar and for Hapoel, and for Nordia. FC Jerusalem was put together in 2019 by French-Israeli Jews who had settled in the city, among them the businessman Laurent Levy, who took the presidency, and Daniel Yeshai, who runs the club as chief executive.

FC Jerusalem started out in Liga Gimel, the fifth tier, and won it in its very first season, in 2020. Promotion to Liga Bet followed, and after five years in the South B division there the club won that too, in 2022/2023, going up to Liga Alef for 2023/2024. It sits there still, in the South division, having beaten SC Dimona 4-1 and drawn 3-3 with Maccabi Ironi Ashdod this season. The State Cup has been less kind: a first-round exit to Maccabi Ironi Modi'in in 2021/2022, then a Round of 64 defeat to Bnei Jaffa Ortodoxim this term.
