Fimleikafélag Hafnarfjarðar started out as a multi-sport club in 1929, and football for women grew inside it long before anyone wrote the date down; by the time the first Icelandic women's championship was contested, in 1972, FH already had a team good enough to win it. That title marked the start of a short but concentrated run at the top: the club took the league again in 1974, 1975 and 1976, four championships packed into five seasons, and nothing since.
The cup has stayed just out of reach. FH have never lifted it, and the closest they came was this year, when they reached the final and lost 2-3 to Breiðablik.
Kaplakriki holds around 6,450. The club's goalkeeping line has carried its reputation abroad more than any trophy has: Guðbjörg Gunnarsdóttir came through at FH before winning 64 caps for Iceland and playing in Sweden, Norway and Germany.
Stjarnan remain the fixture that matters most, the capital-region derby.
