Hapoel Kfar Saba

Eli Yani wore two hats at Hapoel Kfar Saba a generation apart: top scorer when the club won the Israeli Premier League in 1981-82, and, decades later, the owner who kept it alive.

The State Cup came its way three times, the last of them in 1990, a 1-0 extra-time win over Shimshon Tel Aviv under Vitek Lazar.

Recovery was quick by the standards of a club that size: Yani took ownership, Felix Ne'eman took the bench, and Kfar Saba won the north division the following season before returning to the top flight in 2015. It did not stay there either, dropping back down in 2017.

None of that history matters more on match day than Maccabi Netanya. The two have shared the Sharon region and a grudge for decades, and whenever they meet, in whatever division, it is still called the Sharon Derby.
