Krško

NK Krško Posavje spent four seasons in Slovenia's top flight before relegation in 2019. In 2023, NK Krško merged with its former neighbour and derby rival, NK Posavje Krško.

The best finish the club has managed in the top division came in 1991/92, fifth place, under the name Celulozar – Rudar Krško. The return to that level in 2015 followed a 2009/10 title in the 2. SNL, still the club's main honour.

Vinko Pirc carried much of that history in one lifetime — a player from 1972 to 1983, later club president. He died in 2023, the same year the two Krško clubs reunited.

Home games are played at the Stadion Matije Gubca, capacity 1,470. The green kit gives the club its nickname, Zeleni, though around town it is just as often called Nuklearci, after the nuclear power plant on the edge of the city.

Organised football in Krško goes back to 1922, when Baron Franc Lazarini brought the town its first ball; the club itself was founded four years later, in 1926.
