Krka

Krka's oldest quarrel runs through the region rather than a single derby table: the club and NK Krško Posavje, founded the same year, 1922, have been mixed up by outsiders who assume Novo Mesto and Krško must share a team. They never have. The club played as NK Elan and SK Elan for most of its history, then cycled through sponsor labels, Studio D, NK Krka Novoterm, Elan Granit Commerce, before settling on NK Krka only in 2005.

The ground has stayed put longer than the name did. Portoval, built in 1958, holds 1,000 — a club whose two spells in Slovenia's top flight, 1992–1994 and 2013–2016, brought a best finish of 7th, first in 1992/93 and again in 2014/15. The 2016/17 Slovenian Cup run added a semi-final, still the club's furthest point in that competition.

Green gave the club one of its nicknames, Zeleni, but the other, Farmacevti, points to Novo Mesto's pharmaceutical industry rather than the kit. Among those who wore the green was Sašo Udovič, a former Slovenia international forward who returned to the club as sporting director once his playing days ended. The trophies themselves sit in the lower tiers: the 2. SNL in 1991/92, three 3. SNL titles, and four wins in the Ljubljana regional cup, the last in 2012/13.

Krka now plays in the 2. SNL, working from the second tier back toward the top flight it last left in 2016.
