On the night Mogadishu City host Elman FC in the Mogadishu Derby, the ground fills the way it has for decades.
The team traces back to 1963, when the Mayor of Mogadishu backed a new side called Banadir Sports Club, also known in its early years as Municipio Club. That Italian word survives in the nickname still used today, Minishiibiyo. Civil war broke the club apart in 1991.
The club has also sent players abroad for its run in CAF competitions, fielding recruits such as Ghanaian forward Rashid Alhassan and Nigerian striker Onumarah Emeka.
