NSI Runavik

NSÍ Runavík's ground, Við Løkin, looks out across a lake at B68 Toftir's stadium on the far bank, and the derby between the two clubs remains the fixture that matters most in Runavík, ahead of meetings with EB/Streymur and Skála ÍF.

The club came together on 24 March 1957 as a general sports society, with football sharing the organisation with a handball section rather than standing on its own. The current name did not settle until 1967, when the parish split into Runavík and Nes.

Between 1975 and 1997, NSÍ moved up and down between the top flight and the second tier often enough to be known as one of the league's yo-yo clubs, taking the second-tier title five times between 1978 and 1996. From 1997 the side held its place in the Meistaradeildin, winning the championship once, in 2007, and adding the Faroe Cup in 1986, 2002 and 2017 and the Faroese Super Cup in 2008, before dropping out of the top division again in 2022.

Við Løkin holds 1,500, with 450 seats, and has never carried a UEFA licence, so European home ties are played in Tórshavn or across the water in Toftir. Klæmint Olsen is the club's record scorer for both NSÍ and the Faroese national team, and goalkeeper Jens Martin Nielsen is still remembered locally for his part in the win over Austria in 1988.

Since the 2022 relegation, NSÍ have been working from outside the top division, with a return to the Meistaradeildin the target that shapes the club's season.
