Four times in a decade Skála ÍF have climbed out of the 1. Deild as champions — in 2015, 2021, 2023 and again in 2025.
In 2005 the men's side finished second in the top flight, a year after taking third, and the placing carried them into Europe. First came the Intertoto Cup and a 3-0 defeat by Tampere United of Finland. Then, in the summer of 2006, the UEFA Cup first qualifying round drew them against Start of Norway: 1-0 down at home, 3-0 down in Kristiansand, out on 4-0.
The women's side has. They took the Faroese Cup in 1992 and finished runners-up four times.
Jónhard Frederiksberg has been the constant.
The club was founded on 15 May 1965 and plays in orange and black.
