Olkusz Women

Three I Liga titles in nine years — 2012/13, 2015/16, 2017/18 — and only once did SPR Olkusz act on the promotion that came with one: after the 2015/16 championship the club stayed where it was. The best it has managed at the top level remains an 11th-place finish, in 2013/14.

The team split away from Kłos Olkusz in May 2009, taking over a women's handball section that had just won its own promotion to the top flight. Known as the Silver Lionesses, in yellow and black, Olkusz has settled into a rhythm of winning the second tier and returning to it rather than staying up — a club that treats the I Liga less as a stepping stone than as home ground.

Monika Pastwa, the captain, has also been the side's leading scorer. The fixture against KS Cracovia carries its own name, the Derby Małopolski; matches with Sośnica Gliwice and Żory run a similar way, though with less at stake.

Olkusz plays in front of 565 seats at the Hala MOSiR.
