Rijnvogels Katwijk

Rogier Koordes came through at Katwijk before moving into the professional game, playing in the Eerste Divisie for Telstar, TOP Oss and HFC Haarlem, and later in England's First Division for Port Vale. Others followed the same path out of the club, among them Romano van der Stoep, who went on to play in the Eredivisie for FC Utrecht.

The club itself did not exist before 29 May 2004. It was formed when KRV, dating back to 1933, merged with MVKV, the team of personnel at the Valkenburg Air Base, which was about to close. Out of that merger came the name FC Rijnvogels, FC standing for FusieClub, and the colours red, white and black that KRV had carried into the merger. The base is long gone; the nickname De Vogels remains.

Since then the club has moved between the regional divisions and the Derde Divisie more than once. KRV's Eerste Klasse title from 2003–04 gave the new side its starting level, and Rijnvogels won that division again in 2013–14, then the Hoofdklasse B a year later, before winning promotion to the Derde Divisie for the first time in 2015–16. The stay lasted one season; they finished bottom and went back down. A Hoofdklasse championship in 2021–22 sent them up again, and they have stayed in the third tier since. The women's side has had its own run of titles, including the Hoofdklasse in 2018–19.
