Roosendaal FC

On 8 June 2011, the professional wing of the club collapsed under a debt of €1.6 million after the municipality refused to guarantee a loan for its stadium. Within six months a fresh amateur association had been registered, and it began again in the Vijfde Klasse, the tenth tier of Dutch football.

The climb back took over a decade and went division by division: the Vierde Klasse in 2016–17, the Derde Klasse in 2019–20, the Tweede Klasse in 2022–23, the Eerste Klasse in 2023–24, and the Vierde Divisie in 2024–25.

Before any of that, the club had already been rebuilt once. It started life in 1912 as Excelsior, became VV Roosendaal in 1920, and in 1927 a merger with Roosendaalsche Boys produced the name Roosendaal Boys Combinatie, RBC. Under that banner the club reached the Eredivisie twice through the play-offs, in 2000 and 2002, and stayed there until 2006, when it went down after finishing bottom with nine points.

De Roosendalers now play in orange and white in front of a crowd capacity of 5,000 at the Atik Stadion.
