SC Genemuiden

The 2005 amateur cup was won against Excelsior Maassluis.

The club that won it had been assembled out of four separate outfits — VlOS, Vitesse, Genemuider Boys and Stormvogels — brought together on 22 October 1930 so that one side in the town would be open to men of every station. Genemuiden made carpets then and makes them still, which is where the derby with SV Urk takes its name: the fishing port against the carpet town, the Vis-tapijtderby. It is the fixture the town measures its season by.

The strongest run came earlier and locally. Between 1947 and 1962 Genemuiden took the Oost-Nederland Saturday championship ten times.

Promotion out of Zaterdag Hoofdklasse C arrived in 2004 and again in 2014. The second of those made them the first club in Topklasse history to go straight back up after relegation.

In the 2015 KNVB Beker they took ADO Den Haag to penalties after a 3-3 draw and won, then went out 6-0 to PSV in the third round.

Arnold Klein took over as head coach in late 2024, replacing René van der Weij. The academy is producing — Owen Pleijsier and Henrico Lok both left for SC Heerenveen in 2024 — and the immediate task is holding a place near the top of the Saturday pyramid, on the artificial pitch under the floodlights at de Wetering.
