Clásico Cuyano pits San Martín against Gimnasia y Esgrima de Mendoza.
Nationally the club has had to fight its way up four times — into the Primera B Nacional in the 1993/94 season, then back into the top flight in 2006/07, 2010/11 and again in 2014.
What San Juan football likes to point to is the head-to-head column: San Martín is the only club from the province to have beaten each of Argentina's five grandes — River Plate, Boca Juniors, Independiente, Racing and San Lorenzo.
