Two Asian titles in successive seasons, in 2001 and 2002, and an Asian Super Cup to go with each of them: Suwon Bluewings took the continent.
Samsung Electronics set the club up in December 1995 to enter the K League as its ninth member, and Suwon played their first season in 1996. The company held the club until 2014.
For the first five of those years home was the Suwon Sports Complex, a ground holding fewer than 12,000.
Yeom Ki-hun captained Suwon from 2010 until 2023 and holds the club records for both appearances and goals.
The blue in the shirt stands for Samsung, the red for courage, the white for fair play; in Korean the club is Cheong-Baek-Jeok, the blue-white-and-red.
The World Cup stadium holds 43,923.
