The club that plays in Asan now has no connection to the police. When Asan Mugunghwa FC was wound up in 2019, Chungnam Asan FC took its place in the K League 2 fixture list.
What that arrangement meant on the pitch: the squad was made up of professional footballers serving the two years of military service required of South Korean men, doing it as conscripted police.
The side won K League 2 in 2018, having moved to the city the year before. Home was the Yi Sun-sin Stadium, which holds 17,376; the shirts were yellow, the away kit white.
