Yongin City

Yongin has a football club again: Yongin FC entered K League 2 in 2026, playing out of the same municipal football centre and the same ground the city's earlier side used. Legally it shares nothing with what came before — the club that carried the city's name from 2010 to 2016 was wound up and is not the one on the fixture list now.

That earlier side was Yongin City , founded on 1 January 2010 as the team of Yongin City Hall, and it never played higher than the Korea National League, then the third tier. Its one good year was 2012: sixth in the regular season, through to the play-offs, out in the semi-final to Incheon Korail, 3–1. Ko Kyung-min scored 12 that season. The same autumn the team took bronze at the National Sports Festival.

Jeong Kwang-seok, a former South Korea defender, was in charge from the first day until 2014.

The Korean FA Cup went badly almost every time. In 2010 Yongin lost the qualifying round to Kwangwoon University on penalties; the best run came in 2015, a third-round tie against Jeonbuk lost 1–3.

The ground outlasts all of it. Yongin Mireu Stadium , once the Yongin Citizen Sports Park, holds 37,155.
