Témouchent

Two men, Mohradj Hadj Belghaba and Mohamed Attou, set up a football side for their town in the spring of 1961, giving Aïn Témouchent a club of its own to follow. It took the name Chabab Riadhi Témouchent, and the red-and-white kit chosen that year still explains its two nicknames, El Chabab and El Hamra. The founding date, 17 May 1961, has stuck as the club's own account of itself, even where older records point to a differently named side active in the town decades earlier.

Stade M'Barek Boucif, the ground the club has played at since, carries the name of Omar Oucief, a defender who spent his whole career at CR Témouchent and was capped by Algeria in the 1960s. Matches against WA Mostaganem and ES Mostaganem, clubs from the next city along the coast, are known locally as the Derby de l'Ouest.

For much of its history the club's honours came from outside the top divisions: five Interregional League titles won across four decades, from 1971 to 2020, and two Régional I titles in 2008 and 2019. That changed with promotion to Ligue 1 through the Ligue 2 play-offs in the 2025–26 season.

The Algerian Cup has stayed out of reach. CR Témouchent has never lifted it, and its deepest run so far, a quarter-final appearance in 2024–25, is still the closest the club has come.
