The line under Sportpark Höhenberg exists because the senior side went bankrupt: when SCB Viktoria Köln collapsed, the club was refounded on 22 June 2010 and took the year 1904 into its name to keep faith with the old FC Germania Kalk, the side that had stood at the root of it all before mergers turned it first into SC Viktoria 04 Köln and then into SCB Viktoria Köln. The Under-19s carry that same '1904' and the same nickname, Die Höhenberger, drawn from the district that has housed the club for most of its life.

The youth side has not always trained where the first team plays. Alongside Sportpark Höhenberg, it has turned out at the Aggerstadion and at the Bezirkssportanlage Chorweiler, grounds built for a few thousand rather than the more than ten thousand the senior stadium now holds.

In the DFB-Pokal der Junioren the record reads as a team that keeps arriving without breaking through: a semi-final in 2018/19, then a round of sixteen every season since, through 2024/25, with the trophy itself still out of reach. What the academy has produced instead are players who move on. Kaden Amaniampong left for a professional contract in 2022 and went on through KSV Hessen Kassel, VfB Stuttgart II and Fortuna Düsseldorf. Zoumana Keita made his third-tier debut in 2024 before Anderlecht signed him for their under-23 side in 2025.

Across the city, 1. FC Köln remains the fixture that matters most whenever the paths of the two clubs' youth sides cross, the Kölner Derby carrying weight the league table on its own would not explain. For now the Under-19s go into another Pokal campaign chasing the round the previous six seasons could not get them past.
