Vinhais

Vinhais sits in the Trás-os-Montes hills near the Spanish border, and for a small district town its football club has become one of the fixed points on the local calendar. Futebol Clube de Vinhais took shape there on 20 March 1950, and it has stayed within reach of home ever since, working through the district structure run by the Associação de Futebol de Bragança rather than chasing the national divisions.

The Estádio Municipal de Vinhais holds 3,000 people, a size that suits a club whose ambitions have mostly played out close to home. Its clearest measure of success is the Campeonato Distrital da AF Bragança, the district's top honours division, which it won in 2004-05 and again in 2025-26 — a gap of two decades that says something about how hard that title is to repeat in a competition this local. The club has added the Taça da AF Bragança twice as well, in 2017-18 and in 2025-26, giving it a rare double in the same season it reclaimed the league.

Vinhais did step outside district football in the Taça de Portugal, where in 2021-22 it reached the second round before Nacional da Madeira ended the run. Most seasons, though, the sharper edge comes from nearer neighbours. The municipal derby against ADC Rebordelo carries the weight of a rivalry between towns that share a council, and matches against GD Bragança have taken on their own history through district cup finals, where the bigger city club has repeatedly stood in Vinhais's way.

No player from the club's ranks has gone on to a major side or the national team, and the club is known locally simply as Os Vinhais — the people of Vinhais, playing for the town rather than for any single name that outgrew it.
