Hala Sportowa MOSiR

Hala Sportowa MOSiR sits on the edge of the Łódź University of Technology campus. The building opened in 1957 after a stop-start construction period, designed by Włodzimierz Prochaska. The hall is listed as a historic monument.

The hall is listed as a historic monument, a status that does little to prevent the modernisation planned for 2026. Visitors arrive for matches involving Skra Bełchatów or the Polish national volleyball teams, not for the occasional concerts that fill the space in the off-season. The capacity of 6,710 is fixed in the concrete, though movable seating can push the total higher for conferences that draw no interest from the local football press. The venue once hosted the hockey section of ŁKS Łódź until 1991, when the ice went cold for good and the equipment was dismantled.

There is nothing particularly dramatic about the location. It is a functional hall in a city that has long since moved on from its textile industry. The address, ul. ks. Ignacego Skorupki 21, is easy to find but offers no view of the city skyline. The building stands there, unchanged in its basic form since the late 1950s, waiting for the next season of indoor sport to begin.
