About the player
AIK signed Abdihakin Ali on a free transfer. The club announced the agreement with Vasalunds IF on 22 November 2022, and the midfielder joined officially on 1 February 2023. Some sources spell his first name Abdihakim.
AIK was not new to him. Ali came through the youth academies of Vasalunds, Rinkeby and AIK, and he was part of AIK's P19 youth squad in 2020. His senior career began at Vasalunds IF in February 2022. That season he played 27 games in Ettan Norra and scored three goals, and that spell was the basis for the move across Stockholm.
At AIK he plays as a right-footed central midfielder in the Allsvenskan. By April 2026 he had made 59 appearances for the club and scored twice.
His contract with AIK runs until 31 December 2026. He has not played for Sweden or Somalia at any level. Because of his family background he is eligible to represent Somalia, but his citizenship is Swedish. He has yet to win a major individual award or a team title.
