Lukas Bergquist

Seven assists from left-back, in a season that ended in promotion, are the numbers behind Lukas Bergquist's time at Östers IF. In the 2024 Superettan he played 29 matches, scored twice and was among the league leaders in assists for full-backs. Östers finished second and went up to the Allsvenskan.

He plays on the left, which suits a defender who spends much of a match delivering crosses from wide areas. His route to that season ran through the lower reaches of Swedish football, in the north of the country. He started out in his hometown of Söderhamn with Söderhamns FF, where he made 28 senior appearances and scored once. Umeå FC followed, before Östers IF signed him on 30 August 2023 for an undisclosed fee.

His first full campaign in Växjö came in 2024. It was the one in which he moved from a signing at a second-tier club to a regular contributor in a promotion side. Östers had a place in the top flight to show for it, and he had a set of statistics that few defenders in the division could match.

In February 2026 he moved to AIK in Stockholm on a free transfer, on a contract that runs until 31 December 2027. The step takes him from a club that rose with his help to one of the country's best-known names, and to a much larger stage for a full-back whose game is built on delivery from the flank.
