About the player
Benaissa Benamar has spent his career moving between the Dutch and Moroccan leagues. He holds both Moroccan and Dutch nationality, and his family origins lie in Nador, Morocco.
His route into senior football began with Jong FC Twente. After two years there he crossed to Morocco to join IR Tanger, then returned to the Netherlands with SC Telstar.
He signed for FC Utrecht in 2021. In January 2022 he was loaned to FC Volendam, with an obligation to buy that depended on promotion. Volendam went up to the Eredivisie, the clause took effect, and the transfer became permanent in July 2022. In October 2023 he was named in the Eredivisie Team of the Month. He left the club by mutual consent in September 2024.
He then went back to Morocco and played for Raja Casablanca until 2025. On 24 July 2025 he joined CSKA 1948 Sofia as a free agent, on a contract running to 30 June 2028. In his first season in Bulgaria the club reached the Bulgarian Cup final, and finished as runners-up.
For Morocco he has played twice at U23 level.
