Ben Hughes

Ben Hughes started out at Chippenham Town before Swansea City brought him into their academy in the summer of 2021, and he worked his way up through the club's under-18 and under-21 sides. That progression also carried him into the Wales youth set-up, where he was capped at under-18 level and later received an under-21 call-up.

Game time at first-team level came through a loan away from Swansea: in January 2025, he moved to Caernarfon Town for the rest of the 2024–25 season. That spell in Welsh football gave him the kind of regular senior football that academy football alone could not.

Hughes left Swansea at the end of that season and signed for Cambridge United on a free transfer in the summer of 2025, agreeing a two-year contract. At 1.88 m, he fits the modern mould of a tall goalkeeper.
