Benedikt Bauer

Benedikt Bauer made his way to Jahn Regensburg by a winding route through Bavarian youth football, having come up through Rot-Weiß Klettham-Erding, SpVgg Altenerding and a spell at TSV 1860 München before settling at SpVgg Unterhaching. It was there, in Regionalliga Bayern and then the 3. Liga, that he established himself as a senior player, making 38 appearances and winning the Regionalliga Bayern title as Unterhaching went up to the 3. Liga in 2023.

A move to Karlsruher SC followed, though first-team opportunities in the 2. Bundesliga were scarce — a single appearance for the senior side, with most of his football played for KSC's second team in the Verbandsliga Baden, where he scored once in 13 games as the side won the league and earned promotion to the Oberliga. Karlsruhe retained a buy-back option when he moved on again on a free transfer, joining Jahn Regensburg in July 2025.

Bauer's versatility has been a consistent thread through his career: comfortable at right-back, capable of playing as a left wing-back, and also used on the left of midfield. Being two-footed has clearly helped in that regard. He has already had a taste of international football, too, having been called up to Germany's U20 side and making his debut for them in September 2023.

At Regensburg, his contract runs to the summer of 2027, giving him time to build on the defensive foundations laid during his years learning the game between Unterhaching and Karlsruhe.
