Dominik Nothnagel

Dominik Nothnagel came through VfB Stuttgart's own youth ranks before a move to Borussia Dortmund at under-19 level, and it was there that his senior career began, in Dortmund's reserve side. From there he took a route through the German lower leagues rather than a direct path back to the top: three seasons at Würzburger Kickers, a year at SV Wehen Wiesbaden, then three seasons at FSV Frankfurt, where he made 95 appearances and scored eight goals.

It was on returning to Stuttgart, this time with the club's second team, that Nothnagel became a fixture rather than a passing name. He has made more than 157 appearances for Stuttgart II and taken the captain's armband, and in 2024 he led the side to promotion to the 3. Liga. His most productive campaign came in 2024/2025, when he played 35 matches, scored three goals and set up ten more for team-mates.

Nothnagel was capped once for Germany's under-18 side in 2011, in a match the team won. He has not featured for the senior national team.
