J. J. Briggs

Cambridge United's goalkeeping ranks have a fresh face this season in Jasper Briggs, who moved up from the club's U18s to the U21 squad in May 2025 and has since been sent out to learn his trade in non-league football. His first taste of first-team-level competition came at Downham Town, where he made 16 appearances in the Isthmian League North Division after joining in September 2025.

Briggs moved on in February 2026, joining Chichester City for the remainder of the campaign and adding eight further appearances to his tally. The switch between the two clubs reflects the loan pathway Cambridge United have built for their young goalkeepers, giving Briggs regular senior football away from the academy environment before any step up closer to the first team.

English by birth, Briggs has not yet been capped at senior international level. His contract at Cambridge United runs until January 2027, giving the club time to assess his progress through further loan spells before deciding on his long-term role at the Abbey Stadium.
