About the player
Michael Hartmann's route to Swedish football began not in Scandinavia but at Caldwell University in New Jersey, where the goalkeeper started his career before crossing the Atlantic. His European spell opened with a short stay at Norwegian club Kolstad FK, then found firmer footing at Linköping City, where he spent three seasons and was part of the side that won promotion.
A move to Finland followed in 2020, when Hartmann joined FC Haka and made ten league appearances. He then settled into a long run at Oskarshamns AIK in Sweden's third tier, playing there across five seasons and passing close to a hundred competitive matches for the club.
In January 2026, Hartmann signed for Östers IF as a free agent, agreeing a contract running to the end of 2027. Announcing the move, sporting director Ola Larsson described him as an experienced goalkeeper with good leadership qualities, fast reactions and explosiveness.
Hartmann has not featured for the United States at any international level, and his career has been built entirely through free transfers rather than fees. At Östers IF he wears the number 33 shirt.
