About the player
He made his Allsvenskan debut on 4 September 2022 against GIF Sundsvall, and that October he signed a five-year contract with the club.
His full name is Gabriel Victor David Gonçalves Andersson, and his route to AIK ran through several youth clubs. He started at IFK Österåker, moved to IFK Stocksund, and spent 2015 to 2018 at Hammarby IF. Nacka FC and Vasalunds IF followed in 2019, then Djurgårdens IF in 2020. He joined AIK in 2021 and won the U17-SM, the Swedish under-17 championship, with them that year.
The first Allsvenskan goal came on 11 May 2025, against Mjällby AIF. AIK had finished third in the league the season before.
Andersson has also played for Sweden's youth teams. He won one cap for the under-19s in 2023 and three for the under-21s between 2024 and 2026.
On 21 August 2026 he left Stockholm for Portugal, joining Vitória de Guimarães on a contract running to June 2030. The fee has been estimated at between €450,000 and €900,000, or 5 to 10 million kronor.
