Ethiopia Bunna SC

Employees at the Kefa Coffee Processing factory in Addis Ababa formed the club in 1976, registering it as Coffee Board Sport Club. They worked morning shifts and played their matches in the evening, which is where the nickname Morning Star came from, and it has stuck long after the factory floor stopped being the source of the roster. Under the National Coffee Trading Corporation the club was restructured and took the name Ethiopian Coffee Sports Club in 1984, and the Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority owns it today.

The club wears maroon and gold and plays at Addis Ababa Stadium, also known as Yidnekachew Tessema Stadium. Its honours read heaviest in the Ethiopian Cup, where the club has lifted the trophy six times, from 1988 through to 2024 — a gap of 36 years between the first and the most recent, spanning generations of players who never overlapped. The two league titles, in 1997 and 2011, sit fourteen years apart, and both came in seasons that also produced a domestic cup or Super Cup, which speaks to spells when the club pulled several competitions together at once rather than building steadily toward one target.

Beyond the domestic game, Ethiopian Coffee has carried the maroon and gold into the CAF Champions League, the CAF Confederation Cup and the Cup Winners' Cup, and added three CECAFA Club Cup titles along the way, giving the club a regional reach that outgrew its factory-team origins. The secondary nickname, Coffee Market, still ties the club back to the trade its founders worked in, even as the roster has long since had nothing to do with processing beans.
