Ittihad Khemisset

Hussein Ammouta began his career at Ittihad Khemisset in 1988. He later moved into management. Ittihad was where he started, in a town whose club takes its name from the Zemmour tribal confederation and its nickname, the Cavaliers of Zemmour, from the same source.

Others came to Khemisset at the far end of their careers. Driss Benzekri, Morocco's goalkeeper at the 1998 World Cup, played here in 2004–05. Mustapha Bidoudane, a striker, retired here in 2014. That was the year Ittihad won Botola 2 and returned to the top flight, so his last season ended with a title.

The club, founded in 1940, reached the top tier for the first time by winning the Second Division in 1971–72. The following season it reached the Throne Cup final and lost 2–3 to FUS Rabat.

The high point came in 2007–08, when Ittihad finished second in the Botola Pro. That place took them into the CAF Champions League, and in 2009 they reached the second round. Eight years earlier, a runners-up finish in the second division in 1999–2000 had brought promotion to the top flight, so the route to that season ran through the lower divisions.

Home games at the 10,000-capacity Stade du 18 novembre are watched by the Ultras Cavaliers. The fixture that matters most to them is the Khemisset Derby against CR Khemis Zemamra.

In 2024–25 the club played in the Championnat National, the third tier, after relegation from Botola 2.
