Every meeting with İnegölspor gets called the Bursa Derbisi in the local press.

It began life in 1999 as Nilüfer Belediyespor, a multi-sport club in Bursa's Nilüfer district, and the football section only became its own entity in 2008 under the name Bursa Nilüferspor. Everything changed again in August 2016, when businessmen tied to Karacabey Municipality bought the club's shares and moved it out to Karacabey, renaming it Karacabey Birlikspor. The current name, Karacabey Belediyespor, dates only to 2018.

Locally the club goes by Mavi-Siyahlılar, after its blue and black colours. Lig title, which sent Karacabey Belediyespor into the 2. Lig for the first time in its history. Two years later they came close to going further still, losing the 2. Lig play-off final to Bodrumspor, and in 2023–24 they pushed into the Round of 16 of the Turkish Cup.

Kerem Aktürkoğlu wore the shirt before Galatasaray came calling. It is a reminder that a club assembled from three different names in three different towns still traces itself back to that first ball kicked in Nilüfer in 1999.
