Tunisia U23

Tunisia's under-23 side spent the 2023 Africa U23 Cup of Nations at home, in Morocco, and went out at the group stage, which meant no place at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The side, known as the Eagles of Carthage, has never actually won the Africa U23 Cup of Nations, the competition that decides Olympic qualification for the continent; a group-stage finish in 2015 remains its best showing there. Its stronger results sit further back and outside that competition: silver at the 1991 African Games, bronze at the same event in 2007, and runner-up in the UNAF U-23 Tournament that same year. Tunisia has reached the Olympic football tournament itself twice, in 1996 and 2004.

Several players who came through this age group went on to establish themselves at senior level, among them Ellyes Skhiri and Montassar Talbi.

Fixtures against Morocco and Algeria carry the weight of the Maghreb derby.

The team traces its international record back to 1959, when Tunisia drew 0-0 with Malta in Valletta.
