The Lions secured a narrow 38-35 victory over the Hawks in their regular-season meeting on September 19, 2026. The game, played at the Hawks' home ground, proved to be a tight affair until the final minutes. By then, the visitors had managed to pull ahead despite a late push from the hosts.
The Hawks came into this fixture on the back of two consecutive defeats. They had dropped a 26-20 decision to the Blazers on September 12, followed by a heavy 62-13 loss to the Bulldogs just days earlier. To be fair, this was an opportunity to turn things around, though they fell short.
The Lions, meanwhile, had been struggling of late as well. They had lost their previous three outings, including a 39-14 defeat to the Jaguars and a 34-28 setback against the Huskies. That September 12 result against the Lions — a 30-25 win — appeared to be a rare bright spot in an otherwise difficult run.
Without detailed minute-by-minute events available, the narrative remains simple: a close game decided by three points. The Hawks showed resilience after their recent form, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Lions' effort.
This result leaves the Hawks with three straight losses heading into their next fixture. The Lions, meanwhile, finally broke their losing streak and will hope this victory provides some momentum for the season ahead.
