About the player
Alexander David Bolaños Casierra now plays under a different name of his own. In January 2026 he signed for Aucas as Jancer Romario Bolaños Casierra, the identity documents that led Ecuadorian football to suspend him for three years say is his legal one. The Ecuadorian Football Federation ruled in July 2024 that he had falsified his identity and age, using his younger brother's name, to play in youth tournaments beyond the permitted age. The federation's investigation fixed his true date of birth as 23 May 1994, years earlier than the 12 December 1999 previously on record. An appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport reduced the ban.
Loan spells followed at Barcelona S.C. and C.D. Olmedo in 2020, then a stretch in Mexico with Celaya, before further moves through Atlético Santo Domingo, Deportes Concepción in Chile, and Técnico Universitario, where he scored seven goals in 24 matches in 2023. He joined Independiente del Valle in 2024.
At youth level, under the identity later found to be false, he was part of the Ecuador side that won the 2019 South American U-20 Championship and featured for the U-23s in the 2020 Pre-Olympic Tournament.
