About the player
Bautista Merlini came through the Platense youth ranks from the age of nine and made his professional debut for the club in the Copa Argentina in November 2012. He left for San Lorenzo de Almagro the following year, working his way through the reserve side before breaking into the first team in 2016.
A loan to Defensa y Justicia in 2019 saw him feature in the early rounds of the 2020 Copa Sudamericana before moving on loan to Club Guaraní in Paraguay.
It was at Club Libertad, however, that Merlini built the most decorated spell of his career. Over four seasons he made 78 league appearances and scored 12 goals, and became the club's regular penalty taker. He collected six titles there: three Apertura championships, a Clausura, the Copa Paraguay and the Supercopa Paraguay, all in a two-year span.
A free transfer took him to Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata in January 2025, where he made 26 league appearances. In January 2026 he returned to Platense, the club that first gave him his debut, again as a free agent. He has not been capped by the Argentina senior national team.
