About the player
Nicolás Sumavil made his first official appearance for Atlético Santa Rosa in the Liga Cultural in July 2016, at sixteen, before moving that same year into the Banfield academy. He worked through Banfield's reserve side and was called into the professional pre-season in 2019 under Hernán Crespo, though the move to the first team never materialised, and he left the club to join the Argentinos Juniors reserves in early 2020.
His breakthrough came at Atlanta, where he signed as a free agent in July 2021 and made his professional debut that August. Across two seasons there he played close to forty matches in the Primera Nacional and kept ten clean sheets, form that earned him a free transfer to Platense in early 2024, with the club also taking on half of his economic rights.
At Platense, Sumavil has mostly worked as understudy to Lucas Herrera, and he was part of the squad that won the Torneo Apertura 2025, the club's first-ever league title, though the win came with him watching the final against Huracán from the bench. To keep up his match rhythm he went out on loan to Tristán Suárez for the 2025 Primera Nacional season. He returned to the spotlight in the Copa Argentina, where he saved two penalties in a shootout against San Martín de San Juan to send Platense through to the Round of 16 and was named the match's standout performer.
