About the player
Opa Sanganté arrived in France at the age of six, having been born in Diannah Malary. He started out with AS Beauvais Oise II before graduating to the first team, then moving on to FC Chambly.
His longest spell came at LB Châteauroux, where he spent seven years, made 192 league appearances and scored six goals, eventually wearing the captain's armband. The 2021–22 National season saw the club keep twelve clean sheets in 32 matches, its best defensive record since 2010–11.
Sanganté qualifies for Guinea-Bissau, Senegal and France, and chose to represent Guinea-Bissau, making his debut against Senegal in November 2020. He has since gone on to earn around 34 caps and appeared at two Africa Cup of Nations tournaments, in Cameroon in 2021 and in Ivory Coast in 2023. He has also featured in World Cup qualifying matches across two cycles.
