Peer Koopmeiners

Peer Koopmeiners came through the AZ Alkmaar academy from 2009, having started out at Vitesse '22 in Castricum. He spent four years with Jong AZ, making 115 appearances and scoring four goals before earning his senior debut for AZ Alkmaar in the 2021–22 season. Two loan spells followed: a half-season at Excelsior, where he played 19 Eredivisie matches, and a full campaign at Almere City, where he featured 31 times.

Koopmeiners returned to AZ Alkmaar in 2024 and established himself as a regular starter. He scored his first senior goal for the club against Sparta Rotterdam on 24 November 2024. His progress was rewarded in August 2026, when AZ extended his contract until 2029.

The following season brought silverware. Koopmeiners was on the scoresheet in the KNVB Cup final, netting in the 69th minute as AZ beat NEC Nijmegen 5–1 to lift the trophy. He added a second piece of major silverware soon after, winning the Johan Cruyff Shield as AZ defeated PSV 4–0.

At international level, Koopmeiners has represented the Netherlands across the youth ranks, with caps for the U15, U16 and U19 sides between 2014 and 2019, though he has not yet featured for a senior national team.
