Rome-Jayden Owusu-Oduro

Rome-Jayden Owusu-Oduro made his senior debut for AZ Alkmaar on 21 December 2023, starting in a UEFA Europa Conference League group-stage match against Legia Warsaw that AZ lost 2-0. The appearance capped a route through the club that began years earlier: he joined AZ's academy in 2015 at Under-12 level after starting out at the Amsterdam amateur side DVC Buiksloot, and worked his way through every youth category, winning the KNVB Youth Cup and the Eredivisie Youth title with the club's Under-18s in the 2021-22 season, then the UEFA Youth League with the Under-19s in 2023. He signed his first professional contract in October 2020 and extended it in December 2023 through to 2030.

Between 2022 and 2024 he was tested at senior men's level with Jong AZ in the Eerste Divisie, making 33 appearances before establishing himself as AZ's undisputed first-choice goalkeeper for the 2024-25 season.

Owusu-Oduro has also worked his way through the Netherlands youth ranks, with caps at Under-16, Under-20 and Under-21 level. He was named in the Netherlands Under-21 squad for the UEFA European Under-21 Championship 2027 qualifying campaign in May 2025, playing in matches against Israel and Bosnia and Herzegovina, though he was later ruled out through injury. Eligible to represent Ghana through his father, he has said that playing for the Black Stars is not a priority for him at this stage of his career.
